There was a structure fire Tuesday at a residence on the 1700 block of Limekiln Road, according to Calfire.

San Benito County Fire Battalion Chief Mike Marlow said the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction, which broke out at 9:45 a.m.

“It was an equipment malfunction on the outside of the house,” he said. “There is a lot of decking … all on the exterior.”

By the time firemen arrived at 10:13 a.m., 30 minutes after it broke out, Marlow said the fire had been controlled by the residents.

He estimated that the fire caused around $20,000 in damages to the home.
