Ryann Bunnell Crow’s husband was arrested late Tuesday by Salinas police on a homicide charge as a suspect in her disappearance.

A police spokesman said Jesse Crow, 33, of Prunedale, was in custody in a police cell late Tuesday after the arrest. The spokesman said the announcement of the arrest was all police would say about the case, citing the continuing investigation.

He refused to say whether Ryann Crow’s body has been found or where Jesse Crow was arrested. He said Jesse Crow was taken into custody about 9:15 p.m.

Ryann Crow’s family reported her missing Feb. 2 after she missed a family party and didn’t show up for work two days in a row. The 23-year-old woman lived with Crow in Prunedale, but reportedly also lived at times with her sister in Salinas, where police have taken the lead in the investigation.

Ryann Crow was last seen Jan. 30 driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Malibu in the Prunedale area. Police found the car Feb. 9 in Foster City. Police have declined to discuss evidence that may have been found in the vehicle.

Jesse Crow has been noticeably absent during the highly visible campaign by his wife’s family to locate her. The day the woman was reported missing, sheriff’s deputies reportedly seized about 300 marijuana plants from Jesse Crow’s home on Chester Drive. The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office was reviewing whether the plants were legal because Jesse Crow had a medical marijuana card.

While Jesse Crow has not participated in

search efforts or vigil services for his wife, Salinas police continued to say he has cooperated daily with investigators.

The arrest came hours after victims-rights crusader Nancy Grace devoted most of her nationally televised CNN show describing the issues surrounding the missing woman, with a specific focus on Jesse Crow.

Earlier in the day, it was learned that Salinas police sealed search warrants containing details of the investigation into Ryann Crow’s disappearance.

Police spokesman Lalo Villegas said the department asked Judge Tom Wills to seal the probable cause affidavits for the warrants because “it’s still an ongoing investigation and releasing any information or any clues we’ve developed would jeopardize us trying to find Ryann.”

The week Crow’s parents reported her disappearance, Salinas police served a search warrant at the home of Jesse Crow’s parents on Langley Canyon Road in Prunedale.

A Monterey County Superior Court spokeswoman said Wills signed three warrants and agreed they should be filed under seal. While state law requires the affidavits, warrants and lists of seized items be filed with the court 10 days after the warrant is served, none of the warrants was returned as of Tuesday.

The locations of properties listed on the other two search warrants was not known.

The missing woman’s family has set up a Facebook account regarding the search.

The family also established an account at Pacific Valley Bank in Salinas to raise money for a reward and to help defray the cost of her search.

The account is number 0211007380, routing number 121143833. Mail checks to the bank at 422 Main St., Salinas 93901.
