In celebration of National Library Week, the San Benito County Free Library and the Friends of the Library will host an “Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social and Open House” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.

The event is set for the library located at 470 Fifth St. in Hollister. There will be free ice cream, stories, crafts, prizes and fun for all, according to a press release.

They also will provide library tours and online catalog and database training for attendees.

Everyone is invited and encouraged to take part in the family scavenger hunt.

This is the eighth year of the Campaign for America’s Libraries, a public education campaign to speak loudly and clearly about the value of libraries in the 21st century, according to the release.
