Ida Samantha Lierly passed away in Hollister. She was born in Gridley, Illinois, the daughter of William Otis Roseberry and Arlita Hinthorn Roseberry. She was a resident of San Benito County for over 70 years and worked for Tri Valley Growers Cannery for 30 years, was a member of Fidelity Rebekah Lodge #29, Hollister Women’s Club and The Hollister Grandmother’s Club.
She is survived by her children, Elmo Lierly and his wife, Jean, of Hollister, Dora Burdue of Apple Valley, Doris Dobbs and her husband, Buddy, of Phoenix, AZ, Virginia Shaw of Hollister, her daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor, of Seaside and her niece, Barbara Miller and her husband, Tony, of Santee, CA, her grandchildren, Jack Burdue and wife Sandra of Palmdale, Melanie Burdue Nikunen of Superior, MI, Deborah Holbert and husband Larry, of Glendale, AZ, Michael Dobbs of Monterey, Carol Borowski of Phoenix, AZ, Raymond Dobbs of Tolleson, AZ, Brenda Wilkerson of San Juan Bautista, Bill Shaw and his wife, Julie, of Hollister, Kaye Nelson and her husband, John, of San Juan Bautista, Lynette Madruga and husband Mitch of Los Banos, Jim Lierly of Temecula, Jennifer Tortorelli and husband Vince of Hollister, Nathaneal Lierly of Hollister and Julia Lierly of Hollister.
Also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lierly, son, Jerry Lierly, granddaughter, Kathy Dobbs Andersen, brother, Robert Preston Roseberry, son-in-law, Jack Burdue Sr., and son-in-law, Bill Shaw, Sr.
Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2006 from 12:00 noon until 8:00 P. M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thurs, Feb. 1, 2007 at 10:00 A. M. at the funeral home. Pastor John Amelio of Glad Tidings Church will officiate. Interment will be at 2:30 P. M. on Thurs. at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Rd. Watsonville.
A reception will follow the funeral services prior to interment at 11:30 A. M. at the IOOF Lodge on 4th St. in Hollister.
