Jacqueline M. “Jackie” Vosbrink passed away peacefully at her home near Prunedale, on November 17, 2014, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
The daughter of Albert C. and Vera M. Grosse, Jackie was born in St. Louis, MO on September 18, 1933.
She attended Webster Groves High School and graduated from Fontbonne College before she began her career teaching physical education in the St. Louis area.
An animal lover since childhood, Jackie met Dr. Charles Vosbrink, a large animal veterinarian, when he made an emergency call to the family farm to treat Jackie’s injured horse. They were married in St. Louis in August of 1966 and then relocated to Marina, CA in 1969, where Dr. Vosbrink set up his veterinary practice in the Prunedale area.
Jackie continued her career teaching for another 34 years in the San Benito High School District until her retirement 2003.
Jackie valued health and fitness and was both a runner and a cyclist, but her passion was always her animals. She raised and showed dogs, horses and poultry during her life and was involved in Farm Days events designed to introduce school age children to animal husbandry in a “hands on” way.
After retirement, Jackie kept busy volunteering at the Monterey Aquarium, caring for her own animals, and delivering Meals on Wheels in the Salinas area with her husband.
Jackie is survived by her husband, her sister, three nieces and a nephew.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Jackie’s dedicated caregivers and the VNA Hospice team for their compassionate care.
