Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on Wednesday, September 16th from 11:30-3:30 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, 3825 Union Road in Hollister. Donations may be made to Hospice or to the SPCA.
 Jim passed away peacefully in his home on September 1st at the age of 86. He was born in San Francisco to Ed and Marian Cunningham and was raised in Hollister where he attended local schools and graduated from San Benito High School. Jim joined the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office in 1952 as a deputy and then transferred to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office where he served for 23 years.
 He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, and his sons, James III (Elizabeth), Michael (Cindy) and a daughter, Nancy Bueno; his stepdaughters, Renee Hodges (James), Kris Waller (Danny), Kerry Hagins (Terry) and Melissa Michaelson (Ken). He is also survived by his sisters, Ethelyn Schaar and Marilyn Hanson (Bill), his grandchildren, Micah Bueno (Bernice), Eli Cunningham (Christina) and Lindsey Stockdale (Joe). He has five great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Daniel and his brother, Edward.
