There will be a private graveside service for immediate family on Friday, May 24, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. A public celebration of Jean’s life and a memorial service will be held the following day, Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 1:00 P.M., at the Morgan Hill Bible Church.

Jean was born 92 years ago in Howard, KS, where she went to high school and spent her teenage years. There she met her high school sweetheart, Harden Eugene (Bill) McGrew. Both Jean and Bill attended the University of Kansas in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s until Bill was drafted into the army during World War II.

After the war Bill and Jean were married in 1946. They moved from Kansas to Riverside, CA, where they made their home and had their two children, Jeff (1948) and Phil (1952).

In 1957 they moved the family to Morgan Hill where Jean resided for the rest of her life.

In 1970, after a long battle with diabetes, she lost Bill, but she never gave up. She continued to work and provide not only for her own two teenage sons, but she also invited into her home and helped to support two of Phil’s friends, Mike Sweeney and John Wimer. The McGrew household was always the gathering place.

In 1978 Jean met Rex Myers, also of Morgan Hill, and they quickly learned they enjoyed each other’s company very much and in 1980 they were married. They continued to reside in Morgan Hill for the next 33 wonderful years they shared together.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Rex Myers, and her two sons, Jeff and Phil McGrew, their spouses, Carla and Frances, two step-sons, Roger and Mike Myers, and Roger’s spouse, Erin. Jean is also survived by six grandchildren John McGrew (Jennifer), Jennifer Lacefield (Geoff), Chris McGrew, Caty McGrew, Ryan Myers, and Tara Myers as well as eight great-grandchildren Nick and Jack McGrew, George, Everett, and Juliet Lacefield, Jacoby, Aiden, and Samantha Myers.
