John M. Millares died Tuesday morning in his Hollister home at
the age of 97.
Born in Bangare LaUnion, Philippine Islands January 5, 1907, he
came to San Benito County in 1927.

Born in Bangare LaUnion, Philippine Islands January 5, 1907, he came to San Benito County in 1927. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fil Vi-Sayan Association of America, Filipino Community of San Benito County and the V.F.W. Leslie L Garratt Post 6359 of San Juan Bautista.

Mr. Millares had worked for Rohnert and Sun Seeds for a total of 33 years before his retirement.

John’s wife, Vera Irene Millares, died in 1997. He was the father of Joan Rodriguez and husband, Marcelo, of Merced, the late Mary Nasaire who died in 2003, and the late son-in-law Mandie Nasaire who died in 2000 and his late son, Larry Joe Calilan, who died in 1943; grandfather of Anthony and David Morales, John Nasaire, Mandie Nasaire, Jr, Rodney Nasaire and Merlina Zararron. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews on his Late wife’s side; and one late great grandson, Joshua Nasaire.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, until 8 p.m. A Rosary service will be offered this evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. from the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral home proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at the San Juan District Cemetery in the Veteran’s section.
