An angel among us, Jo passed from this life following hospitalization for a brief illness. Chomie, as she was known to her beloved family, or Jo-Jo, as she was called during her residence at Village Green, leaves a void in our lives and hearts with her passing.
Born in Akron, Ohio to Philip and MaryAnn Stumpo, she attended school following her high school graduation to earn her certificate as a medical assistant. She was employed by doctors, who became her dear friends, in Akron and Santa Barbara, ending her career as the office manager for three Ob-Gyn doctors in Santa Barbara.
Following her retirement, she and the love of her life, husband Vic, enjoyed life in the home of their dreams that they built in Cambria. With a panoramic view of the ocean from their dining room table, they enjoyed their life, their home and their treasured friends in this beautiful community.
In 2004, they moved to Gilroy to be clo! ser to family; and following Vic’s death in 2006, Village Green Courtyard became her home.
The family is grateful to the loving caregivers who supported her during that time. Staff of St. Louise Hospital and Pacific Hills Manor provided loving comfort to her and to our family during her difficult last few weeks.
Jo was preceded in death by her dear and loving husband, Vic; her parents; brothers, Frank, Lou and Chuck Stumpo; sisters-in-law, Yolanda Stumpo and Geraldine Stumpo, and brother-in-law, Ross Buzzelli.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Vicki Campanella (Frank); treasured grandsons Ben Brinkman (Allyson) and Adam Brinkman (MaryAlice); precious great grandchildren, Jackson, Harper and Jonathan Brinkman; dear sister, Rita Buzzelli and brother Vince Stumpo (Gail); many adoring nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.
Each member of her loving family holds fond memories of moments she shared with them and remembers the impact she had on each of their lives .
