Larry, a resident of San Martin, was born in White Plains, NY to Jose and Guadalupe Gallego.
The family migrated to Sunnyvale in April 1940 where Larry graduated from Fremont High School in 1949. Following high school, Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War.
He is survived by Giulia, his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, sister Manuela Rodriguez, daughters Gina (Aaron) Colton and Lisa (Brian) Seifert, sons Alex (Kim) Gallego and Eric (Martha) Gallego, in addition to his 12 grandchildren: Garrett, Ryan, and Zackary Colton: Jessica, Joshua, Nathan, and Caroline Seifert; Grace and Lucas Gallego; and Nicholas, Allison, and Vincent Gallego. He is also survived by his nephews Daniel (Carol) Rodriguez and Geno Mammini, and nieces Jeannette (Mammini) Tomany, Michelle (Mammini) Savage, Janine (Mammini) Smock, and Naomi Ramirez; brothers-in-law James Mammini and Eugene Mammini, and other family members in the United States, Spain, and Canada.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Louis and Rosie Mammini, brother-in-law Faustino Rodriguez, niece Christina (Rodriguez) Nevarez, and other family members in the United States and abroad.
Larry attended San Jose State University and enjoyed a successful career in the construction trades with Herion Roofing and as the long-time owner of Cedar Roofing Company.
Larry was vibrant and active and enjoyed sports throughout his life, from basketball and track and field at Fremont High, to racquetball at the Schoebers Athletic Club in San Jose, bowling in the Nisei League at Gilroy Bowl, and golfing with friends and family. He was known for his physical fitness and was an avid runner and walker, and he instilled this upon his children and grandchildren.
Larry was devoted to his family and a loyal and trusted friend to many. His honesty, respect, and loyalty in both his personal and business life was endearing to those around him.
At his request, a private family service will be held. Those that wish to honor his memory may do so to the charity of their choice in Larry’s name.
