A very special soul was welcomed into Heaven on September 30, 2012. Lauren June Geiger, 23, passed away in Pennsylvania from a tragic ATV accident, but at the time, she was enjoying life as she always had.
Lauren is the beloved daughter of Jim and Debbie Geiger of Gilroy, her hometown. Born at the former Wheeler Hospital, Lauren is the loving sister of Jennifer Ledwell of Morgan Hill, Kent Chamblin of Gilroy, and Jimmy Geiger of Milpitas. She is the granddaughter of Jim and June Geiger of Santa Clara, Barbara Lenhart of Morgan Hill, and Izzy Wilson of Sturgeon. Pennsylvania. Her grandfathers Robert “Skeeter” Wilson and Eddie Lenhart preceeded her in passing. Lauren is also the niece of Karie Geiger of Santa Clara, and Kathy and Bud Jeanette of McDonald, PA.
“Auntie Lauren” was an excellent role model for her own nieces and nephew, Kayla Martinez and Karley Montes of Morgan Hill, and Tyler Chamblin of Gilroy. She was excited at the recent birth of her third niece Lucy Chamblin.
A 2006 graduate of Gilroy High School, Lauren attended Gavilan College in Gilroy, and in early September 2012 she became a nursing student at the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in McKees Rocks, PA. Ironically both her mother and sister were born at this hospital.
While attending nursing school Lauren enjoyed living with her Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bud Jeanette, and their daughter Mindy.
Lauren’s zest for life and upbeat spirit left an everlasting impression on everyone she met. A tall, blond haired, blue-eyed California girl, Lauren’s outer beauty was equally matched by her inner spirit of love and kindness.
Her friends and family remember Lauren as an especially beautiful soul, full of life and laughter, vibrant and positive, an inspiration, and a loving and caring person who lit up a room when she entered it with her lovely smile and positive energy.
Lauren enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping, water skiing, and being at the beach, and she participated in several running events with her mother Debbie.
Along with her family, Lauren volunteered for many years at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. She was a long-time employee of the South Bay Surgery Center in Morgan Hill where she worked as a medical assistant until she left for nursing school.
Lauren was an organ donor, so she will live on through her selfless gift to others. Lauren will be forever loved and forever missed.
For those wishing to remember Lauren, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing where a scholarship has been established in her memory.
A celebration of Lauren’s life will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the amphitheater at Christmas Hill Park, 7050 Miller Avenue, Gilroy.
