Lawrence Joseph Grace, MD passed away on July 5, 2012, in the comfort of his second home, Hazel Hawkins Hospital. Dr. Grace was born in Philadelphia on October 11, 1940, to John “Jack” Grace and Anne Grace nee Costigan.

On June 3, 1967, the St. Louis School of Medicine conferred a degree of Doctor of Medicine – Magna Cum Laude on Larry. After many years of residencies and serving as a doctor and a Major in the Army, Larry became an active member of the American Academy of Neurology on February 1, 1976.

Larry was a devoted and compassionate doctor for 45 years, but his nearly 20 years of practice in San Benito County was, as he often recounted, his greatest reward. Dr. Grace loved his patients and his peers in the medical community.

Larry is survived by his wife, Paula Grace; his brothers, John Grace (Carol) and Mike Grace (Bette); his children: Lisa, John, Clark and Larry Grace (mother Mona Isley), Mary Lee and Matt Grace (mother Sandy Cunningham); eight wonderful grandchildren; and his two beloved Irish Wolfhounds, Paddy and Maeve.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ron Yanagihara and Dr. Marty Bress for the loving care of Larry throughout his battle with cancer; Dr. Joe Ezer and Nurse Larry Paine for their remarkable comfort care of Larry during the last two days of his illness; and Ken Underwood and Dr. Paul Genstler for their support of Larry’s family.

A mass will be said for Dr. Grace at 11:00 A.M. on July 11, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tres Pinos, CA, reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation.Condolences: www.blackcoopersander.com
