With the SBCBOS unanimous vote Tuesday, local government leaders have now all joined to surrender our county’s sovereignty to AMBAG. If the AMBAG-VTA “Blueprint” for transport infrastructure and land use is in reality our county’s General Plan, why have a county government?
If we have rescinded the 1872 secession from Monterey County, why do we need to have duplicative governments? Why pay taxes to a county government that yielded governing to others? If we are going to have the same policies for which VTA was found to be the worst transit agency in the USA, for which VTA was indicted by the Santa Clara County Grand Jury, and by which AMBAG & VTA have left this region as the largest urban area in North America without intermodal facilities, which has undermined the region’s No. 1 industry, why should taxpayers have to support two levels of county government? It makes no sense to capitulate self-rule by our county’s residents, and then still have to pay for the former leaders’ governance which they relinquished to AMBAG-VTA radical socialists.

Right Choice for District 4

As a senior citizen living in a fixed income it is important to have those who represent us listen to our needs. Too many politicians have their own agendas and don’t always look to the betterment of the community as a whole.
I was impressed that Reb Monaco took the time to come by my home to ask what I felt was needed in our community. Since Reb has been in office there has not been the rampant building that there was before. We are now facing the possibility of a hotel in Tres Pinos. I do not know if a hotel or additional housing would make more traffic and noise in our little town, but I do know Reb will do what he feels is the best for all and just a few.
Please join me on Nov. 7 to vote for Reb Monaco as District 4 Supervisor.
