Police know few details in west Hollister attack on a
31-year-old
A 31-year-old Hollister man was stabbed three times Friday night in the 600 block of Central Avenue, the Hollister Police Department reported.

On Monday, investigators knew little about the stabbing, police Capt. Bob Brooks said. It was the third suspected attempted murder this year, police reported.

Authorities do not know why the man was stabbed, what weapon was used or who perpetrated the crime, Brooks said.

“We haven’t been able to talk to the victim and we don’t have any suspects,” he said.

At 7:35 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 600 block of Central Avenue, police said.

Upon arrival, police found the 31-year-old man with two stab wounds to his back and one to his chest, Brooks said. The man was found in the street and later flown by helicopter to a Bay Area hospital.

Brooks said the stabbing remains under investigation.

Other suspected attempted murders this year include the following:

On Jan. 5, a 34-year-old San Jose man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after officers found a Hollister woman who’d been strangled nearly unconscious.

A Hollister man was stabbed nine times Jan. 19 in an apartment courtyard on Valley View Road in what police reported was the first serious gang violence of 2008.

Investigators believe three Watsonville men, all suspected Norteño gang members, were behind the stabbing Jan. 19.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is encouraged to call the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330.
