Gilroy police found no shortage of people to arrest over the weekend, including a 20-year-old man who apparently didn’t want to pay for a 49ersĀ  jersey or a box of diapers.

Adrian Melendez, 20, went into Walmart at 7150 Camino Arroyo Saturday night and apparently stole the No. 52 replica jersey of linebacker Patrick Willis (valued at $30) along with a box of Pampers diapers (valued at $37.94), while two people with him acted as look-outs.

Eventually Melendez and the two look-outs fled Walmart until Melendez was located by police, where they found him with the jersey and the diapers.

Police arrested Melendez around 11 p.m. Saturday – just hours before the 49ers would lose the NFC championship to the New York Giants – without the assistance of Melendez in a Willis jersey to cheer them on.
