A group of six or more people attacked a 23-year-old man inside his car Tuesday night in a “gang-related disturbance” that sent two people to the hospital, including a man who was run over by the car.

Three Hollister residents were arrested, including two juveniles, and six suspects have been identified after the brawl in the 700 block of Busby Court.

The juveniles, ages 15 and 17, and Omar Quezada-Perez, age 18, were arrested for suspicion of battery with serious injury, conspiracy and vandalism.

Officers responded around 11 p.m. after they received multiple calls describing a group of six or more Hispanic males attacking a car.

The argument started after the group of males, wearing predominantly red clothing, started damaging the vehicle. After hearing breaking windows and a loud noise, the car owner ran out of his house near the 800 block of Hillcrest Road, chasing the suspects away.

The owner and a passenger jumped in the car and drove to where the suspects fled, Hollister Police Sgt. David Westrick said. As the owner drove up, the suspects rushed toward the vehicle and started attacking the owner and the car.

The six or more suspects caused facial cuts and bruises to the car owner and continued to damage the car, Westrick said. The car owner never left the vehicle during the attack and was sent to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. It is unclear if the passenger was injured, Westrick said.

At some point during the ruckus, one person was run over by the car and suffered lower body injuries. He was rushed to a Bay Area hospital to treat his injuries. It is uncertain at this point if he is a suspect, Westrick said.

As police arrived, the fight stopped and police caught three suspects at the scene, while the others fled. The investigation is ongoing and police still are seeking the other suspects.
