Manuel W. “Manny” Rapoza died Saturday, Oct. 4 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was 86.
A lifelong resident of Watsonville, he had been a real estate agent for over 40 years in Watsonville and in the surrounding counties. Rapoza first worked with Lester & Roach, then Kurnetti & Assoc.
He retired to a life of boating and R.V. traveling all over the United States. His first love was boating with his first wife, Ester, and then his second wife and “buddy,” Georgia. His other hobbies included cooking, coin collecting, story telling, traveling and barbecuing with family and friends.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. This unique man is survived by his wife Georgia, of the family home in Watsonville; his sister Mary Goodwin of Freedom; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Fred Sugidono of Watsonville; grandchildren Josh Sugidono and his wife Dawne of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Ryan Sugidono and his wife Irene of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mindy Sugidono of San Diego; great-granddaughters Makayla, Kaylani and Zoe Sugidono. He is also survived by many friends from around the country.
There will be a visitation Friday, Oct. 10 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A private burial will take place at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
To celebrate Manny’s life, there will be a memorial service at a time to be announced in the next few weeks.
