María Cruz Lemus Cid “Mamá Cruzita,” mother of 13 children, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon from natural causes.
Mamá Cruzita was the widow of Cesario Cid Bobadilla (†). Together, they were devote Catholics and reared 14 children — Casiano (†), Eulogio (†), Marcelina, María Desideria, Andrea, María Guadalupe (†), Víctor (†), María Santos, Pascual (†), Pascual, Carlos, Jubentino (†), José, and Francisco Javier (†).
She was born in La Ciénega, a small ranch within the municipality of Chimaltitán, Jalisco.
Alongside her husband, she cultivated land in Jalisco, México so that her children would learn the value of hard work, family, and faith. She was a traditional woman who lived through the Cristero Revolution and recounted several events of historical significance to her family.
Though she was 103, Mamá Cruzita would pray her Ave María’s and rosary faithfully. She is survived by seven children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will remember Mamá Cruzita for her unconditional love, compassion, and for being the matriarch that bound such a large family together.
