Dear Editor,

Thinking back, I remember times that I spent with Jeramy such as BBQ’s held during the Garlic Festival weekends at Conrotto Trucking, a company where our dads worked together. Times throughout high school with Jeramy are remembered mostly because of his jokes, pranks, and contagious laughter. But no matter where it was, we always had fun!

A good example, and my fondest memory, is this past Memorial Day weekend. I towed his “Baja Bug” down to Pismo Beach. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton at the time and was driving up to meet me, his bug and about 15 of our friends.

It was an awesome weekend; massive bonfires, loud music and revved out motors of all kinds! Jeramy started wrenching on his bug as soon as he could. He had ordered new shocks that we brought down to him. Once they were on, and with some fine tuning to the engine, and a quick screw driver to the starter, he was off into the dunes, leaving 5- to 10-foot roosts behind.

Jeramy let me drive his bug, which was really fun. Though I didn’t really jump it, for “if you break it, you buy it” is always in unspoken effect, I still ripped on it. I give thanks to Jeramy and his positive, semi-random, mischievous, yet enjoyable attitude that yielded such great memories. Jeramy Ailes will forever be remembered by everyone as a kind-hearted jokester with an attitude deserving of much admiration. I wasn’t Jeramy’s closest friend, nor was he mine, but he was my friend and for that I am grateful! I extend my deepest sympathy to the Ailes family for their loss. I will always cherish the time I spent with our friend, our hero, Lance Cpl. Jeramy Ailes.
