Marion Lauder Ruge died on May 21, 2012. She was 88 years of age. She was born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, Canada on August 7, 1923 to Hubert and May Lyne.

She became a naturalized citizen when she married William Ruge of San Jose. They became egg and walnut ranchers on Cochrane Road in Morgan Hill for more than 45 years. Marion taught swim lessons and was PTA President at Burnett School when her children were young.

The family spent many vacations at Big Basin Park. She was a Nixonette in the early 60’s and greeted Richard Nixon at San Francisco Airport. She was a pink lady at Santa Teresa Hospital for more than 20 years and volunteered over 6000 hours.

She leaves behind her children Marna Ferreira of Sonora, Bob Ruge of Gilroy, Marcia Lindsay of Redding and step-daughter Elizabeth Meckfessel of Pleasanton. She also had five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

The family would like to thank several important people in Marion’s life. Mary Lou Ramos was very special to her. We would also like to thank Mary Avila, Rachel, Isabel, and Athena for extraordinary care during her last months.

Cremation has already taken place. There will be no services.
