Marjorie was born October 19, 1916, to Peter Joseph and Sarah Melissa Gann Molay. She was born in, and grew up with her four brothers and two sisters in Hollister, CA.

Marjorie died on July 29, 2012.

Marjorie graduated from San Benito County High School and attended the junior college before going to work for the telephone company. She married Edward (Ed) R. Lamb in 1940, living the rest of her life in San Juan Bautista.

She joined her husband at the San Juan Mission News after they married, acting as a reporter and bookkeeper for the paper. During Ed’s tenure as the Judge, Marjorie also clerked for the San Juan Justice Court. After the San Juan newspaper and print shop closed, Marjorie worked for a printing business in Salinas until retirement.

She loved to cook, and her enchiladas, chili beans, stews and strawberry preserves always made a visit a delight. Marjorie was a positive role model to all who knew her.

In recent years, her home became a favorite with close friends and family for conversation and consolation.

Marjorie enjoyed traveling, with two trips to the British Isles, a rail trip across Canada, and Arizona explorations. On many vacations, their car towed a tiny travel trailer, named “Gargantua”. Summers frequently included stays at Fallen Leaf Lake, and weekend getaways relieved the stress after Thursday press day for their weekly newspaper.

Marjorie’s memberships included the First Presbyterian Church of Hollister, the San Juan Bautista Service Club, and the San Juan Bautista Historical Society. In 2007, she was honored along with her late husband, Ed, in recognition of their newspaper, the San Juan Mission News.
