Mary O. Shackelford died in Walnut Creek on Dec. 30, 2006. She was born in San Jose, CA ,and was 83 years old. She graduated from Salinas High School in 1941 and then attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in San Francisco. She worked for several doctors’ offices and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She married her husband, Robert, in 1944 in San Francisco and lived most of their life in Salinas and 10 years in Hollister. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Salinas and Sacred Heart/St. Benedict Church in Hollister and also a member of The Entrenous Society.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Shackelford of Clayton, her children and their spouses, Claire and Sig Kehr of Clayton and William “Duffy” and Donalee Shackelford of Woodland, her sister, Anne Lisk of Salinas and her grandchildren, Robert Kehr of Clayton and Sam and Kacy Shackelford of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bud” Twisselman.
Private family memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. Private inurnment will be at St. Benedict’s Columbarium in Hollister.
Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory, Hollister.
Donations are preferred to Hospice of Contra Costa, 3470 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.
