M’Lissa H. Lowe returned to the arms of Jesus Friday, June 22, 2012. M’Lissa was born August 11, 1927, in Los Angeles, CA to Samuel Blair and Sally Ruth Roberts Blair.
When she was three, her father passed and her mother married Frank Grice, who M’Lissa and her sister Bobbie called “Daddy.”
M’Lissa was a city girl who loved the glamour of nearby Hollywood and spent her childhood going to Saturday movies and roller skating on the concrete sidewalks and paved roads of L.A. As a young adult, she enjoyed spending days at the beach and nights sneaking into clubs to hear blues musicians and comedians.
She was a telephone operator when she married the love of her life and partner in countless adventures, Phil Lowe, in 1950.
In 1954, they moved to Morgan Hill, CA where they raised their three children. M’Lissa taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years at Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church. She always had an urn of coffee in her kitchen and a kind word for the women of all ages who stopped by to cry on her shoulder or ask for advice. She kept their secrets until her death.
When Phil retired, they moved to Avila Beach. M’Lissa upped her bridge game, continued to work her daily crossword puzzle in ink and enjoyed being a grandparent with Phil until his passing in December of 2011.
M’Lissa enjoyed books, music, movies, theater, travel, horseraces, and the ‘Niners and the Giants. She loved her Lord, family, friends and all children.
M’Lissa is survived by her sister Jane, of Morgan Hill, children Lani Curran, of WA, Phil Lowe, of San Luis Obispo, and Jane Lowe, of Hawaii, her six grandchildren, great-grandson, and dear friends and beloved family.
A memorial service for M’Lissa will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Hill Presbyterian church.
