I’m writing in response to a comment attributed to Supervisor Reb Monaco in the Tuesday, March 9 edition of the Free Lance. Supervisor Monaco is said to be concerned about continuity. “It’s sure going to change the make-up of the board,” he said, as quoted in the article. Supervisor Monaco should remember that his own election to the board in 2002 also changed the “make-up.” In case Mr. Monaco has forgotten, the historic comeback in District 5 is democracy at its best. As an educator and county supervisor, he should not have to be reminded of this. Furthermore, I feel this is evidence the “good-ole-boy syndrome” is alive and well in San Benito County.
