A celebration of her life will be on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at 12:00 noon, at Paines Restaurant, East Street near 4th Street in Hollister. Donations are preferred to The Jef Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St., Hollister, CA 95023.
 Nadine S. Sparling passed away at her Hollister home at the age of 86. She was born in Hollister and lived here all of her life.
 She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Earl E. “Sonny” Sparling, Jr. and Mitt Hitchcock.
 She attended Bear Valley School, San Benito High School and graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelors and teaching credential.
 She was past president of the San Benito County Cattlewomen and was cattlewoman of the year, California Retired Teachers Assn., started Farm Day in San Benito County, liked fishing, traveling, gardening, spending time with her family and friends and was an avid 49er fan and season ticket holder. She was especially dedicated to education of our youth.
 She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ed Sparling (Pattie) of Hollister and Nada Sparling (Dennis Poletti) of Hollister, her brother and sister, Stan Schmidt (Meredith) and Charlotte Tranberg (Barney) of Hollister and her grandchildren, Ev Sparling (Liz), Zane Poletti, Tyler Poletti, Kelly Wood (Travis), Jace Poletti (Brooke) and Tamara Malekos (Steven) and great grandchildren, Emery and Elliote Sparling and Jaxon, Grayce Wood, Kai Poletti, Torin Poletti,Violet Poletti and Mykenna Malekos and numerous nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edith Schmidt and her brother, Jef Schmidt.
