Hollister Police Officers arrested a 15-year-old juvenile for vehicle theft on Sunday at 1:30 a.m.

Hollister Police officers arrested Greg Larios, 29, on Feb. 15 on gun and drug charges after a car stop in which Larios evaded police who caught him after a short foot pursuit.

David J. Quiroz, the Hollister man accused in the killing of 25-year-old Heather Carroll, has a hearing set for Thursday at the San Benito County Courthouse.

The sentence hearing for Jorge Diaz, the local homeless man who accepted a plea deal in the slaying of Francisco Rojas at a Hollister cemetery, was delayed until March.

The Hollister Police Department on Saturday arrested 33-year-old Hollister resident Jason W. Spears on four counts of arson after neighbors reported him trying to set fire to a local condominium, according to police.

Several relatively prominent cases are in court Thursday. That is when Jorge Diaz, who accepted a plea deal in a homicide case, is scheduled for a sentencing. The Diaz sentence hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday in courtroom 101 at the San Benito County Courthouse.

Emergency resources personnel from San Benito County gathered Thursday morning for a four-hour workshop to discuss how sharing information with community members might play out in a serious emergency situation – including notes on the benefits and pitfalls of social media, needs of traditional media outlets and what role different agencies might have in an emergency.

The pickup truck driver pursued by authorities for more than 30 minutes Tuesday from Hollister to Gilroy escaped on foot, but the investigating sheriff’s office reported that it might have a positive identification on the suspect.
