Yule Benefit Concert: The Rock Guitar Club will host the Yule Benefit Concert Dec. 1 at the San Benito High School auditorium. Proceeds will be split between the Hollister Animal Shelter and helping cover the cost of advanced placement tests. Featured performers include Smith Alley, Subtle Agenda, Conserve, Burned on the Stake, Dark Horse, Battalion and Trophy Kids (who recently signed with a label in Los Angeles.) Tickets are $10 at the door.

Reggiardo family celebrates 100 years
In the early 1900s, Giuseppe Reggiardo, also known as “Joe Tuna” or “Joe Regge” (born 1878), came from the little town of Tunno, in the province of Liguria in northern Italy. His journey for a new, improved life started with a passage on a boat to a new world: America, The Land of Opportunity. He left his sisters and family in Italy and departed with some sadness, but with high expectations that buoyed his sagging spirit.
Hollister charter school gains district approval in 3-2 vote
The Hollister School District on Tuesday approved a contract and conditional approval of a petition to open a charter school in Hollister for the 2013-14 school year.
