Hollister woman arrested after brutal Mountain View assault
A Hollister woman was arrested in downtown Mountain View early Sunday morning on suspicion of punching another woman and then slamming her head into the ground several times, police said.
For first time, Californians will be able to register to vote online
Beginning next month, Californians for the first time will be able to use the Internet to register to vote, giving them about six weeks of online access to register in time to participate in the Nov. 6 presidential election.

South County hosting orientation for self-help homes

Suspect ID’d in Sobrato apartment murder
The suspect in the July 22 murder of a 21-year-old man at the Sobrato Transitional Apartments on Monterey Street is “actively avoiding” police contact — and because police have not obtained the handgun used in the shooting, he is considered armed and dangerous.
