Norabelle Wright of Salinas passed away on April 12, 2007. She was 99 years of age at the time of her death. She was born on March 3, 1908 to Jerry Wright and Grace Braden Wright. Norabelle was a native of Hollister, CA..

She graduated from Hollister High School, San Benito Junior College, now Gavilan, then from San Jose Secretarial School.

In 1930, she took her first job in Salinas with the California State Automobile Association. In 1931, she went to work for the County of Monterey as a Deputy County Clerk. She was employed by the County of Monterey for 39 years before she retired in 1970. Most of the time, she was the Acting Registrar of Voters for the County. She continued living in Salinas after retirement.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Salinas, belonged to the Monterey County Republican Women’s Club, Active Seniors and the Retired County Employees Association. After retirement, she took many trips, enjoyed bridge and reading, and the company of her many friends.

She was the granddaughter of John Wright, one of 50 members of the San Justo Homestead Association, which founded the City of Hollister in 1870. The Wright Road about 2 miles north of Hollister carries his name.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Wright in 2002 and his wife, Van Wright in 1985

Her survivors include a niece, Julie Wright, (Randy Brown), and nephew, Jerry (Cherokee) Wright, all residents of Hollister

Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Struve and Laporte Funeral Directors and following cremation the ashes will be buried in the family plot at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Hollister at a later date.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:15 P.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22 Stone Street, Salinas, CA 93901

The family would like to thank the staff at the Ridge Rehabilitation Facility for the care and kindness shown to her.
