Letter: Journey of 100 years for local Women’s Club
A group of women – many of whom could remember as children, attending the founding ceremony, in 1874, of a new county called San Benito, and, the incorporation of the City of Hollister, in 1868 – sign a newly formed Women's Club Charter.
Letter: Delighted about Clouds Rest
I am delighted at the success of Ron Erskine's group hike to Clouds Rest. It has been my great privilege to hike to Clouds Rest twice. I never attempted Half Dome, and have no regrets. Looking down on Half Dome and Yosemite Valley was unforgettable. I can think of no single vista in my 75 years that surpassed this one. I remember wandering through a marshy area (this was spring) and thinking we would never find the trail. GPS has probably solved that issue.

The governor, our state representative, state senator,...
Letter: Reader calls candidate a ‘breath of fresh air’
Ignacio Velazquez is the right choice for Hollister mayor. His personal and business success add to his many characteristics that make him the roadway to a thriving Hollister economy. He understands that investing in our local economy is the answer to a balanced budget and staffing public safety. In fact, he has gained the support and endorsement of our Hollister Firefighters and supports our Public Safety. Ignacio is unafraid to stand up to adversity and make a stand for what is right. Velazquez opposes the Measure E tax and will tackle the difficult task of cleaning up the mismanagement of tax funds and poorly performing City management. Status quo in Hollister is unacceptable and Ignacio Velazquez is the breath of fresh air Hollister has been gasping for.
