The library shared a 'customer appreciation' cake with visitors in 2015 during the San Benito County Free Library's celebration of National Library Week.

The San Benito County Free Library is offering special perks this week including cake, tips on resume building and a choir performance. That’s because it’s National Library Week and the institution joins others in celebrating the importance of reading and learning.
“There’s so many people that may not know about the library,” said County Librarian Nora Conte. “It is a time of celebration because we do have that access to information.”
As part of this week’s events, the library launched participation in Overdrive, a program that allows locals to download bestsellers to their personal electronic devices after they install an application. Here’s the list of other activities planned for this week:
MONDAY APRIL 13:
2 p.m.– 4 p.m. Customer appreciation cake
3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Children’s activities and photo taking opportunity for parents
4 .m. – 6 p.m. Library launches participation in Overdrive, which allows locals to choose from 70 ebook titles and download bestsellers and other popular reads
TUESDAY APRIL 14:
4 p.m. – Hollister Poet Rachelle Escamilla talks to teens and adults about marketing their work and publishing
6:30 p.m. – Vicki Brackett, a career coach and the CEO of “Make it Happen,” demonstrates how to improve resumes. Visitors are invited to bring in their CV for review
WEDNESDAY APRIL 15:
3:30 p.m. ­­– Elementary school children explore colors with artist and educator Christine Tarnai-Hammer
THURSDAY APRIL 16:
3:30 p.m. – Students dance to great music with kid friendly moves in a special Zumba for Kids class
4:30 p.m. – Special surprise
FRIDAY APRIL 17:
4:30 p.m. – The Oriana Chorale will perform “Songs of the Heart” with keyboard accompaniment by Masae Ariki.
5 p.m. – Hollister Poet Rachelle Escamilla will give a special author’s talk on the “Imaginary Animal.” Escamilla is a recipient of the Virginia de Arujo Academy of American Poets and Willow Books Literature awards.
