Eloy Vasquez

Police arrested one of three suspects wanted in a robbery near South Street and Prospect Avenue.

The victims reported the robbery Wednesday and alleged it occurred the day before between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to a police statement.

They alleged a gold sedan pulled up next to them, asked about gang affiliation and threatened to shoot the two reporting victims. After another citizen approached the scene and confronted them, an argument occurred and the suspects fled.

Police used license plate information to narrow the investigation and found the suspects are from Watsonville. Eloy Vasquez, 18, was positively identified as one of the suspects. A warrant was issued immediately for his arrest.

On Friday, Watsonville police reported they had located and arrested Vasquez. Vasquez was turned over to Hollister police custody, and transported and booked into the San Benito County Jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and witness intimidation. Vasquez’s bail is set at $50,000.

According to the police statement: “The Hollister Police Department would like to thank those citizens that came forward and provided important information that led to the identification and arrest of this suspect.”
