A Hollister man was arrested for performing a lewd act with a minor Thursday.
After committing the felonious act a year ago, Corbett Mayhew Legrand, 23, was arrested when the victim decided to contact law enforcement about the incident, said San Benito County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Pat Turturici.
“It’s very sensitive,” Turturici said. “But we’re taking it very seriously and will attempt to get it prosecuted to the highest level we can.”
Legrand is a 290 registrant, which means he is a registered sex offender, Turturici said.
After an investigation into the victim’s allegation, deputies arrested Legrand.
The victim is under 14 years of age, according to the sheriff’s department.
Legrand is being held at the San Benito County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
