Alfredo Zendejas

Police on Sunday arrested the suspect wanted in multiple residential burglaries and who recently fled from officers during a search, according to a statement from the Hollister Police Department.

Police and county probation officers arrested Alfredo Zendejas, of Hollister, after a short foot chase around 4 p.m. Sunday.

According to the HPD, an off-duty San Benito County probation officer was driving in the area of Sunnyslope and Valley View roads when he saw Zendejas walking on Valley View Drive. The probation officer called dispatch for assistance. A Hollister police officer who was patrolling in the area located Zendejas shortly after on Valley View Road near Cedar Drive.

The statement reads: Zendejas immediately ran away on foot when he saw the uniformed officer. The probation officer and police officer chased Zendejas on foot. They followed Zendejas to the 1000 block of Oak Street where he was captured trying to climb over a fence and into the backyard of a residence. Zendejas was subdued after a short struggle with police officers and the off-duty probation officer.

Police booked him into the San Benito County Jail on charges of burglary, felony possession of a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and gang enhancement charges.
