At about 8 a.m. Nov. 20, Hollister police and and animal care officers responded to a call of a sick horse in the area of Fallon Road and Shelton Drive, according to a statement from the Hollister Police Department.
According to the announcement:
The pony now named “Captain” was unable to stand for long periods of time. The horse appeared malnourished and dehydrated. Animal care officers took the animal into protective custody and immediately summoned a veterinarian to treat the horse. At this time, it appears the animal will most likely make a full recovery.
The Hollister Police Department’s Animal Care and Services Bureau is seeking the public’s help in locating person’s responsible for the abandonment and neglect of “Captain”. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Animal Care and Services at (831) 636-4320. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
