BATTERY TO A PEACE OFFICER: Felix Soliz Verdusco, Jr., 40, of 850 Hillcrest Rd. #19 in Hollister, was arrested by San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies for battery to a peace officer and violation of parole, both felonies, resisting arrest, providing false information to a peace officer and being under the influence of heroin, all misdemeanors, at 2900 Fairview Road at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday. After deputies responded to the residence for a report of a suspicious vehicle and began talking to Verdusco they discovered he had several outstanding warrants out of Monterey County. When they told him they were going to arrest him he tried to escape, and when deputies caught him he scratched and hit them. Police administered pepper spray and finally took him into custody, according to deputies.

VANDALISM: Unknown suspects caused over $6,000 damage to a Hollister resident’s 2002 Ford F150, Harley Davidson commemorative edition in front of her home in the 100 block of Olive Street in Hollister sometime between July 5 and 6. The report was not taken by Hollister police until Wednesday, when the resident received an estimate for the damage. Suspects slashed the truck’s tires, etched the windows, broke the rearview mirrors and the grill. The entire truck was trashed, police said.
