Attempted Burglary, Powell Street

At 8:30 a.m. Friday, near the 600 block of Powell Street, police responded to an attempted break-in after a suspect tried to force his way through a front door of a residence. The homeowner woke up after hearing banging on the front door. When the resident approached the door the suspect saw him and fled. The suspect is described as wearing a dark jacket. There are no suspects at this time.

Selling liquor to minor, Somme Avenue

Just after 10:30 p.m. Friday police responded to reports of a loud party in the 900 block of Somme Avenue. When police arrived they found a group of minors drinking. Officers cited three male juveniles, two 17-years-olds and an 18-year-old, for giving alcohol to minors. Police stopped the party.

Attempted Burglary, Beth Court

Police responded to a report of an attempted break-in at a home at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Beth Court. The homeowner woke up in the middle of the night after hearing the doorknob shake. After approaching the door, the suspect fled and is described as a male wearing dark clothing. Police have no suspects at this time.

Possession of narcotic, Virginia Drive

Just after 11 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Virginia Drive and Locust Avenue, officers pulled over a vehicle because a passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and discovered marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. The passenger also had a form of a controlled substance with him. The passenger was arrested for the drug substances and the driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.

Burglary, East Street

Police reported a vehicle break-in that took place between 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday near the 500 block of East Street. The vehicle’s windows were broken and its stereo was taken. Police have no suspect information at this time.

Petty Theft, Airline Highway

At 2:30 p.m. Saturday police responded to Nob Hill after security reported an uncooperative customer. When police arrived they discovered the woman, who had a previous petty theft arrest, put a piece of tri-trip and two packages of shrimp into a backpack she was carrying. Nob Hill security watched the woman put them into her backpack before she tried to walk out with the items. The woman was arrested.

Burglary, Shelton Drive

Police reported a vehicle break-in between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the 1400 block of Shelton Drive. The vehicle’s passenger window was broken and its stereo was taken. A backpack, with an iPod inside, was also missing. Police have no suspects.

Under the influence, Meridian Street

Police responded to the 1100 block of Meridian Street at 6:30 p.m. Saturday after reports of a male suspect kicking front doors and breaking windows. When officers arrived they found the suspect, who was stumbling and showing signs of being under the influence. Officers tested the suspect and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked and his blood was tested.

Battery on Person, C Street

Police responded to a disturbance at 9 p.m. Saturday at the 1100 block of C Street. As officers arrived, they found two male suspects pushing and shoving. The two males were arguing over the use of a borrowed vehicle. Both men were citing for simple battery.

Stabbing, Canal Alley

At 9 p.m. Saturday police responded to the 800 block of Canal Alley after a report of a stabbing. The reporting party said he was walking home when two Hispanic men approached him and starting beating him. At some point the suspects stabbed the man on the leg, and he had a small incision on his leg. Officers shut down the area to look for the subjects, but as of this time, the police have no suspect information.

Battery on Person, Live Oak Drive

Police responded to a report of battery at the 100 block of Live Oak Drive at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. When the reporting party was walking home from church, he said two male suspects, who fled down the street afterward, jumped him. The suspects pushed him into nearby bushes and beat him, he said. The reporting party couldn’t describe the suspects and police have no suspect information at this time.

Possession of controlled substance, Seventh Street

At 9 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Seventh Street, police pulled over a male on his bicycle and discovered he was carrying a controlled substance. Police pulled the man over after he disobeyed traffic laws on his bicycle. After talking with him they discovered he was on probation and after a quick search they discovered the drugs. Officers took the man into custody.

Vandalism, Del Rio Court

At 10:30 p.m. Sunday police responded to the 1000 block of Del Rio Court after reports of a disturbance. When officers arrived they discovered a 17-year-old male vandalized his girlfriend’s car after an argument. The suspect tore and damaged the interior of the car and before officers arrived, the suspect fled the area. The suspect was cited for vandalism.

Under the influence, Fifth Street

Just after 1 a.m. Monday, police reported a female who was under the influence of a controlled substance near the 500 block of Fifth Street. Officers were doing a routine search of the area when they found the woman stumbling. As officers tried to talk to the woman, she said she was going to the store. After talking with her, officers determined the woman was under the influence and she was taken into custody.

Burglary, Manzanita Drive

Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday near the 1200 block of Manzanita Drive, police responded to a report of an attempted burglary. The vehicle owner’s dogs heard a noise and started barking. Startled, the homeowner looked outside his window and saw a suspect breaking into his car. The suspect took the stereo and two speakers before fleeing northbound. The reporting party walked outside and saw two suspects trying to break-in to his neighbor’s vehicle. After yelling at them, the suspects left. There is no suspect information at this time.

Prostitution, Hawkins Street

At 11 p.m. Wednesday in the first block of Hawkins Street, officers on patrol discovered two people having sexual intercourse in a parked car. After they finished, police questioned the couple and discovered the 51-year-old woman was a prostitute. The woman was cited for prostitution and the 74-year-old man was cited for paying the prostitute.
