Home Burglary

A home was entered through a window at about 9am Monday in the 400 block of Seventh Street in Hollister, the Hollister Police Department said. A $60 winning lottery ticket was taken, police said. There are no suspects.

A home was entered through a window between 8am and 1pm Tuesday in the 600 block of Spring Drive in Hollister, police said. An iPod, jewelry, watch and coins worth $500 were taken, police said. There are no suspects.

Grand Theft

A Hollister man was bilked out of $5,000 after being approached by two men in the K-Mart parking lot at about 1pm Tuesday on Tres Pinos Road in Hollister, police said. The men claimed to be from South America and be in possession of a winning lottery ticket for $30,000, police said. The men offered the victim $10,000 if he fronted them all the money he had so they could cash the ticket, police said. The men explained that they did not have valid driver’s licenses and therefore could not cash the ticket, police said. After getting the $5,000 in cash and placing it in a paper bag, the victim met the men in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Airline Highway, police said. After the man went inside, the men left with the cash, leaving a paper bag full of shredded newspaper, police said. The suspects are only described as two Hispanic men, police said.

Drunk in Public

A 53-year-old Hollister man was arrested by the Hollister Police Department on suspicion of public intoxication, a misdemeanor, after officers responded to a call about a drunk man at 10:58am Monday at Jerry’s Restaurant on San Felipe Road in Hollister, police said.

A 30-year-old homeless man was arrested by police on suspicion of public intoxication, a misdemeanor, after officers responded to a call at 10am Tuesday in the 200 block of Third Street in Hollister, police said.

Assault With a Deadly Weapon

A 21-year-old Hollister man was arrested by police on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, after officers responded to a disturbance call at 1:22pm Tuesday in the 500 block of Spring Drive in Hollister, police said. The man attempted to stab a 17-year-old Los Banos boy, police said.

Domestic Violence

A 20-year-old Hollister man was arrested by police on suspicion of domestic violence, a felony, after officers responded to a disturbance call at 2am Tuesday in Hollister, police said. A woman had been hit on the left arm, causing a mark, police said.

A 22-year-old Salinas man was arrested by police on suspicion of domestic violence, a felony, and being under the influence of drugs, a misdemeanor, after officers responded to a disturbance at 7:25pm Tuesday in Hollister, police said. A woman had been grabbed by the arm and her shoulder, thrown on the ground and pushed, police said.
