Hollister police are investigating a large gang fight that occurred at a McDonald’s restaurant last weekend.

Police responded March 30 around 9 p.m. to the drive-thru lane at McDonald’s, 151 San Felipe Road.

Police in a statement released Thursday noted that several 911 callers reported witnessing the confrontation.

“One witness reported seeing a suspect with a gun, while others reported one person on the ground being kicked by other males,” according to the statement.

Police arrived and detained three men with known gang associations who were in a vehicle in the drive-thru. Some suspected gang members fled on foot, and witnesses reported some leaving in a white Honda.

According to the statement:

According to the victims and witnesses, the three men were seated in their vehicle in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant. A group of rival gang members approached and surrounded their vehicle, and then began smashing out their car’s windows with bats and sticks. One of the occupants was pulled from the vehicle, put on the ground, and punched and kicked. None of the men appeared seriously injured, and none of them wanted medical assistance. The three males denied knowing their attackers, other than they were rival gang members.

The Hollister Police Department is still investigating this case and said the McDonald’s staff “took appropriate action in locking their doors to protect their patrons.”
