Police on Friday arrested three men after finding a loaded, stolen gun in a vehicle parked at the Save Mart parking lot, according to the Hollister Police Department.
At about 10 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of people openly drinking alcoholic beverages near the vehicle in the parking lot at 291 McCray St., according to an HPD statement. They ended up arresting Adrian Isaiaz Casarez, 20, Armando Justo, 19, and Raymond Anthony Zamarripa, 18, all of Hollister.
They are suspected of possessing a stolen loaded gun and possessing stolen property.
Casarez and Justo were detained with the vehicle in the parking lot, while others fled.
A routine check of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm concealed inside of it, according to police.
“While the officers were checking the vehicle, Zamarripa walked up to the scene. Zamarripa was identified as one of the persons who initially ran from the officers. Zamarripa claimed responsibility for the vehicle,” according to police.
Police soon realized the firearm was reported stolen in Santa Cruz County last year.
