Hollister – A 30-year-old Hollister man was stabbed after a fight broke out at a party on Sherwood Drive a little after midnight on Sunday and police believe the attack may be gang related.

Hollister police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Sherwood Drive at 12:33am for a fight in progress and a man down, said police spokesman George Ramirez.

When police arrived they found the man lying in the middle of the street with a one-inch stab wound to the left side of his torso, Ramirez said.

His condition is unknown at this time, he said.

The victim was involved in the fight with numerous other males, some with present or past gang ties, Ramirez said.

By the time police arrived the fight was broken up, and while the incident is considered an attempted murder, police do not have any suspects or know what type of weapon was used, Ramirez said.

“There are a lot of interviews and re-interviews that have to be done,” he said. “We hope to (find a suspect soon).”

The victim was taken to Hazel Hawkins Hospital and then flown by helicopter to a San Jose-area hospital, Ramirez said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Tony Lamonica at the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330.
