Police are looking for a man they believe is in the company of a 14-year-old missing girl from Hollister.
Police have reported the teen as missing. They followed up by noting a person of interest, a man named Jose C. Arrellano, with an estimated age between 35 and 38.
According to a police statement, the sheriff’s office took a report at about noon Thursday for a missing person’s case, and Hollister police assumed the investigation.
At sometime after 8 a.m., the girl was observed walking outside her residence taking the trash out in the 1200 block of Prune Street. She never came back in the home. After checking the area, her family reported her missing.
According to police, she is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5-foot-2 and 115 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a light blue blouse and light blue, ripped jeans with black and white low-top Converse shoes.
Police detectives have listed Arellano as a person of interest in the investigation. He was reported as a family friend who was recently seen with Margarita. Police have been unsuccessful in their attempts to get in contact with him.
He is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-10, with light skin and a medium build. Arellano was last seen driving a late model Chevy 4-door truck, which was light gray in color and described as a Texas Edition model.
According to the HPD:
The Hollister Police Department has contacted U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the California Highway Patrol in regards to this investigation. An Endangered Missing Person Advisory has been sent out to all agencies throughout the state by the CHP-Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center (ENTAC) in Sacramento.
If anyone who may know the whereabouts of Arellano or any information on his complete identity or the whereabouts of Margarita is asked to call Detective Erik Morris at the Hollister Police Department (636-4330).
