Hollister police are looking for a woman suspected of removing money from a customer’s wallet at the local Safeway store, according to a statement from police.

Police were called to Safeway, 341 Tres Pinos Road, at about 4 p.m. Friday. Store surveillance captured the theft, while police have provided a photo of the suspect at the scene.

According to police, the woman was viewed taking a wallet from a customer’s shopping cart. She removed cash and placed the wallet somewhere else in the store before leaving about two minutes later. The victim reported about $200 missing from her wallet.

The suspect is described as white or Hispanic female in her 50s. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

Hollister police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this suspect. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330. People wishing to remain anonymous can call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may qualify for a reward.
