About 3:15 p.m. Monday, high school administrators received a report from a concerned student that a 14-year-old male classmate had a weapon and explosive powder, police said. School administrators notified Officer Carlos Rodriguez, who responded to find that the student had a knife as well as the powder, police said.
As investigations continued, police turned up evidence of diagrams for making bombs, a list of desired equipment – including guns and ammunition – and other unspecified, incriminating writings, police said.
“They also found that the student had developed a scenario involving an attack on the high school,” police said.
Police then connected a 15-year-old male with this plan and with the weapons and explosives, though police did not specify how.
Police arrested both teens for conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of weapons and explosive powder on school campus.
“The parents and guardians of both males were cooperative during the investigation, expressing great concern upon discovering that the boys were involved in this activity,” police said.
Both suspects were arrested and booked into San Benito County Juvenile Hall.
