Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at San Juan Bautista Mission. Ray’s family will bury him privately at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. At a later date, there will be a Celebration of his life. For further information go to www.HabingFamilyFuneralHome.com.
Raymond Thomas Perez Sr. entered heaven on February 5, 2016, with his wife, Mara Barsi-Perez, by his side.
Raymond was born in Fresno, CA on September 11, 1935. Ray moved from Fresno to Santa Clara County with his family when he was a small child.
Raymond is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mara Barsi-Perez, sons, Jim and Raymond Jr. (Elaine) and Claudio Barsi (Silvana). Daughters; Eleanor Perez and Lauretta-Barsi Avina (John). Grandchildren, Martin, Ryan, Raymond III, and Melanie Perez, Thomas Torres, Isiah and Garrett Avina and Andrew Saguindel. Brother, William Perez (Martha) and mother of Ray’s children, Margaret Perez.
Ray also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Fresno, Morgan Hill and Gilroy area.
Ray was preceded in death by daughter, Franca Barsi, daughter-in-law, Christine Perez, sister, Eleanor Trujillo and nephew, Christopher Trujillo.
Raymond worked in metal fabrication for over 30 years that specialized in Food Production and Processing Machinery. He retired from Versaco Manufacturing in Gilroy, CA as a foreman. Ray also served in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Ord.
Ray loved to spend time gardening, watching classic Western movies and shows, and listening to classical music and music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Ray was an avid reader and some of his favorite books were DIY books. He was very talented and there was nothing that he could not fix or build.
Ray was a quiet but very devoted family man with a big and generous heart. His favorite times were spent surrounded by his wife, Mara, his children and grandchildren. Ray was well loved by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
