Former San Benito County sheriff candidate Patrick Turturici has been hired as the undersheriff in Lake County, according to the Lake County News.
Turturici lost to Darren Thompson in the 2010 race for San Benito County sheriff. He had spent 25 years working in the local office, including the last six as undersheriff. He resigned from the post about a month before Thompson took office, but county supervisors in August 2010 already had agreed to eliminate the undersheriff role here.
Turturici had held a hefty lead over Thompson after the June 2010 primary. But Thompson defeated him in the November runoff by a margin of 57.1 percent to 42.4 percent, after Turturici’s campaign had several challenges arise late in the race.
The Lake County News announced the hiring Friday on its Twitter and Facebook pages. The newspaper noted Turturici’s first day is Monday.
