a celebration of Dick’s life offered at St. Benedict Church.
Funeral services for Richard “Dick” J. McAbee, who died March 30 in Hollister at 78, were held Saturday morning from the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home with a celebration of Dick’s life offered at St. Benedict Church. Fr. Rudy Ruiz officiated with several family members and friends offering many stories about Dick’s life.

Burial and graveside services followed at San Juan District Cemetery with a funeral procession of 14 McAbee trucks with Richard McAbee Jr. driving Dick’s Hay Squeeze as the lead vehicle. A full police escort was provided by the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department with assistance by the California Highway Patrol. The pallbearers were: Bill Regentz, Romaldo Martin, Hank Verissimo, Daryl Lund, Jim Horn, Michael Duarte, Bill Lavagnino, Phil Vessey “The Hawk” and James Hayhurst.
