Property crime has increased in the Ridgemark community in recent months, and sheriff’s deputies arrested three boys on suspicion of vandalism that caused more than $100,000 to a business there.
Sheriff Curtis Hill said there will be extra patrols and zero tolerance for such crimes at Ridgemark.
Today, Hill said the sheriff’s office is taking property crime at the gated community seriously.
“They’re fed up,” Hill said of the residents.
The sheriff met with about 200 Ridgemark residents Tuesday evening following the arrest of three 14-year-old boys. The boys are suspected of breaking windows and damaging the interior of the Ridgemark Realty building, deputies said.
“There’s not a piece of drywall between the studs that’s not busted,” Hill said.
Undersheriff Patrick Turturici urged residents to report vandalism.
Turturici said the sheriff’s office will help organize neighborhood watch programs at Ridgemark to help combat property crimes.
The office is also investigating the vandalism of a golf course green at Ridgemark. A tool was used to take out chunks of the green and write an obscenity, deputies said.
Other recent crimes at Ridgemark include eggings, vehicle burglaries, club house burglaries, stolen golf course flags and pins, tee box and green vandalism, snack shack burglaries, prank calling security, loud parties and interfering with golfers.
