Ronald Chaffee, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 in San Jose, CA. Husband of 52 years to his loving wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Chaffee of Gilroy. Father to son Mike Chaffee and his wife Robin of Folsom and daughter Rhonda Holt and her husband Jeff of Rohnert Park. Proud grandfather to Rebecca and Ryan Chaffee, Michael Robbins, and Ryan Holt. Ron is survived by his sister Lu and her husband Chuck. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Plentywood Montana and raised in Westby, Montana, Ron moved to Gilroy in 1962. He worked for Gilroy PD prior to his joining the Highway Patrol and he retired from the CHP in 1995 with 30 years in law enforcement. He attended St. Mary’s Church and most recently, Mission San Juan Bautista. Ron devoted countless hours working with Special Olympics and coaching Little League baseball and softball, soccer, and girls basketball at Gilroy High.
