 Sumiye passed peacefully on June 8, 2014. She was born in Gilroy, and was a graduate of Gilroy High School. Her parents Kimi and Shigetaro Nakashiki were immigrants from Hiroshima Prefecture.
 She was preceded in death by her brother Kaiso “Fred” Nakashiki, Sister-in-Law, Mary Nakashiki and her brother Toshiharu “George” Nakashiki.
 She is survived by Isamu “Sam”, her husband of 63 years; daughter Elaine Struble of Santa Clara, CA; sons, Randall (Naomi) Shingai of San Jose, CA and Roger (Becky) Shingai of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren, Todd Struble of Portland, OR, Cole and Quin Shingai of Morgan Hill, CA and Connor Shingai of San Jose, CA; sister Kozuye “Florence” Suenaga (Saburo) of Carson City, NV; and sister-in-law Irene Nakashiki of Fresno, CA.
 On the Nakashiki side she is survived by nieces and nephews, Howard Nakashiki, Kailyn Higashi, Debbie Serva, Lisa Sasaki, Jerry Suenaga and Jeffrey Suenaga.
